Layout of the venue

Map

Below is our planned layout, it’s approximately to scale.
The site’s website also has a handy 3D tour of some of the venue here, but note that we aren’t using the hall on the first floor of that tour as it has no level access.

For more detail about accessibility, see the dedicated page.

IC spaces

Roleplaying should only happen in the IC spaces. We’ve selected these to maximise step-free access.
Nobody will be having secret meetings in an unknown a room up a set of stairs.

Main Hall

A general purpose space accessible to all court members at any time. The Friday night banquet will be served here, the Saturday morning Mass will be said here.
Most other IC spaces connect to the main hall.

Henry’s chamber

Staterooms of Henry VIII, including his bedchamber. Henry will retire here on Friday night.
This room will not always be in play but we will make it clear whether it is open or not.

Council chamber

A room set aside for meetings of the great men of state, off the main hall. This will be used for Privy Council, Convocation, and Parliament at their request. At other times it can be used for other meetings including more private ones at the request of the court servants.

Queens’ room

A large room off the main hall reserved for the women of the court to retire, embroider, study the Bible, etc. With the permission of a Queen, a priest may enter for the specific purpose of giving spiritual instruction to the ladies of her court.

Side-chapel

In a corner of the main hall, a chapel-space set aside for small scale religious worship, often used by a Queens’ court.

Confession booth

Used for confession. This is permitted but not essential for Henricians and popular with the Conservatives and traditionalists. It is essential for Catholics, though these are few at court.

The Dungeon

Down a level in the basement, accessible by wheelchair lift or stairs. Some characters may be taken there for short periods if they are arrested, and others may want to visit them in prison. This is a black box space, we’re not planning to physrep a realistic dungeon.

Katherine Of Aragon’s Chambers

For the first hour or so, the party of Katherine of Aragon and the Papal delegation from Rome will start away from the main play area. We’ll ensure this meets the access needs of those players.

Back garden

Accessible from the back doors of the main hall. The gravel paths are available for strolling, plotting, trysts and betrayals. Ramps will be available.

OC Spaces

Roleplaying should not happen in the OC spaces.

OC quiet room

For people who want a bit of quiet time. Snacks and drinks available at all times.

Canteen

Snacks and drinks available at all times as well as seating and space to rest and chat OC.
Meals other than the Friday banquet will be served here OC.

Bedrooms

These are small dorm rooms of around 4 beds each. You can store your possessions in them and go to them any time for OC needs. They are upstairs and some are accessible by lift.
